California previously announced that San Diego County individuals and businesses impacted by the severe storms and flooding that began on January 21, 2024, have until June 17, 2024, to file 2023 income returns and pay associated taxes. Taxpayers who did not mark “disaster” on their returns may have received penalty notices. If a taxpayer received a penalty notice for the 2023 taxable year related to the disaster postponement, the taxpayer or a tax professional acting on the taxpayer’s behalf can do one of the following to resolve the issue:
check MyFTB for up-to-date account information;
submit an email to FTBSanDiegoDisasterRelief@ftb.ca.gov with information required to process the taxpayer’s disaster relief request; or
use one of the many other options to contact the FTB directly.
