Happy October! October is really in the “thick” of Fall, so here it comes. And that’s not just Halloween. It’s the Q4. The last quarter of the year, and time to do final year-end financial and tax planning.

BEST CPAOur lively October, 2015, San Francisco Tax Tips Bulletin, dives deep into investments this month, namely with coverage of ROTH IRAs vs. tax-deferred retirement accounts and the conundrum of where to safely staff money with interest rates at all-time lows. The fact that the Federal Reserve did not raise interests rates, in combination with falling gas prices, is indicative that the era of low interest rates if far from over.

Looking towards the future is part of estate planning, something we do regularly with our clients usually in conjunction with their attorneys. If you are close to or near (or even far from) the retirement age, give us a call and let us work with you on tax, financial, and retirement planning.

Finally, the October San Francisco tax bulletin looks at the new world of social media and reputation management. If you are a small business owner anywhere in the San Francisco Bay Area you are living at the “epicenter” of the new media revolution: Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, and Google all have their headquarters in the Bay Area. But just being near to them, physically, does not mean that you understand how to “do” social media.

“October is a great time to tune into retirement planning and tax issues,” commented Chun Wong, CPA, managing partner at Safe Harbor LLP. “As for social media, we are practitioners of it ourselves.”
