Let’s face it: we all have to pay tax. That’s what pays for all the infrastructure, the government, the roads, and so on, that we all need and rely on. In fact, there’s a very old saying that there are only two things in life which are certain: death and taxes! So yes, we all have to pay our fair share.
And that’s the point: our FAIR share. That means paying what the law demands and no more. However, far too many people pay too much tax because they don’t understand what the law demands. And if you are one of them, why should you? The laws relating to tax are EXTREMELY complicated, and as tax accountants in San Francisco we understand that only too well. That’s why we’re here in the first place.
The Man In The Street Hasn’t Got A Chance On His Own
Tax laws have developed over the centuries with one law brought in after another so that it has got to the point where the man in the street hasn’t got a chance on his own. Something that you may be able to claim for is something that another person with the apparent same circumstances may not be able to claim for. And vice versa.
Look at it this way. Technology today has advanced, and is advancing, at an enormous pace. Twenty-five years ago, we didn’t have the internet. Email? What’s an email? There is no way that, at Safe Harbor, we would begin to understand how to create a robot, but to other people today, that’s just part of their daily lives. They understand it.
Conversely, those same geniuses wouldn’t understand how to find their ways around the tax laws. They could be building a wonderful robot and making millions and paying far too much tax.
Unfortunately, at Safe Harbor we’re not making millions, but we DO understand the tax laws, and we understand them as they apply to our clients. We look at your tax position, your income, your outgoings, your mortgage or rent, your children, their schooling, your health, and 101 other things in order to insure that we can draft your tax return so that you finish up paying the correct amount as demanded by the laws and no more.
