Facing an IRS audit is a scary thought! We get that, but we stand by our clients and work with them in defense during an IRS audit. In most cases, it’s nothing to worry about. It may be as simple as a discrepancy in an address, or in a small amount of income that you received. In other cases, especially with high income taxpayers, it may be more complicated. Read the article in the eLetter for some insights into how and why the IRS audits. And, of course, be aware of the terrible epidemic of “IRS audit scams” working around the Internet, and even via phone calls. Be skeptical of anything that sounds suspicious, as thieves impersonate the IRS all the time. In addition, the eLetter has an intriguing piece about ESOPs as retirement plans.
